Event Description

SFEO welcomes Chef Curtis Aikens, television celebrity on the popular Food Network and author of 2 cookbooks, and local hero Chef Eddie Blyden to our own Iron Chef competition. With two high end wineries offering tastings, olive oil companies offering their wares and a dessert bar extravaganza, you may not realize that you are also learning about food and cooking!

Chef Curtis

About Chef Curtis Aikens
Curtis' career as a television personality and author began in 1988. Currently. He resides in Novato, California and Conyers, Georgia and is the father of two young sons, Curtis, Jr. and Cole.

He has been with the Food Network since its inception, previously as the host of Pick of the day, From My Garden, Meals Without Meat, and Food IN A Flash. Curtis is Quick to point out that his expertise with produce does not mean that he is "anti-meat." "I just love fruits and vegetables," he says.

Chef Eddie BlydenAbout Chef Eddie Blyden
As Executive Chef of the Joie de Vivre Henry’s gastro-pub, in Berkeley, California, Blyden continues to celebrate the slow food movement utilizing sustainable produce grown from local organic farms as well as natural and free range meat and poultry. His culinary creations honor tradition, reflect the many cultures he has lived in, and embrace the international tenor of the local neighborhood.

Chef Blyden's philosophy is to "keep it simple." In his words, "Food is like music. You can compose a simple song or a sophisticated symphony using the same musical notes. In the kitchen, you can combine herbs, flavors, colors, and the best natural ingredients to create a snack or a gourmet meal. All you need to do is build on the integrity of the ingredients to allow the simple elegance of the food to shine through."

Don't miss the action!
There will be lots of great food, surprises for your Valentine and, of course, memorable libations. Please view the linked websites to get more information about the chefs attending. If anyone is particularly interested in food and wine and would like to help, please email brad@oberwager.com directly.
