20 Cosmo Place, SF 94109
Le Colonial, just minutes away from popular Union Square in San Francisco’s downtown district, evokes the ambiance of French colonial Vietnam in a lush, romantic setting. The inner courtyard, which once housed legendary Trader Vic’s, has been transformed into an oasis featuring mosaic-like tile flooring, a vaulted, pressed-tin ceiling, tropical plants and plush rattan furniture, all accented by the glow of candlelight. Diners enjoy a menu designed to showcase authentic Vietnamese dishes with a touch of French influence. Le Colonial has delighted in welcoming visitors for over nine years.
“Le Colonial has always been one of those out-of-sight, out-of-mind places for me. Its hidden location on Cosmo Place, …….every time I approach the oversize doors…….it's like walking through the looking glass into another world...” review from SF Gate
Kokarri
200 Jackson Street, SF 94111
San Francisco restaurant, Kokkari Estiatorio, celebrates another accomplishment - cuisine fit for the gods. Legend tells us that Kokkari is the site where Orion, son of the Greek god Poseidon, fell in love with the daughter of the King of Chios. For the love of her, Orion foraged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets. On entering Kokkari, guests experience the old-world charm of a rustic Mediterranean country inn on the shores of the Aegean. An inviting fireplace, extensive woodwork, hand-made pottery and freshly picked flowers all reflect the warmth and tradition of ages-old hospitality.
“Greek food is not easy to come by in this town, but at this sweeping, comfortable restaurant, complete with a roaring fireplace where everything from lamb to suckling pig is spit-roasted, you can feast like Zeus. Chef Erik Cosselmon does the expected Greek classics beautifully, but the more adventurous diner can enjoy the likes of goat stew, grilled octopus, whole fish and house-made headcheese. “ From Eat and Drink Awards 2008
